사도행전 5장 :27-42
27 그들을 끌어다가 공회 앞에 세우니 대제사장이 물어
28 이르되 우리가 이 이름으로 사람을 가르치지 말라고 엄금하였으되 너희가 너희 가르침을 예루살렘에 가득하게 하니 이 사람의 피를 우리에게로 돌리고자 함이로다
29 베드로와 사도들이 대답하여 이르되 사람보다 하나님께 순종하는 것이 마땅하니라
30 너희가 나무에 달아 죽인 예수를 우리 조상의 하나님이 살리시고
31 이스라엘에게 회개함과 죄 사함을 주시려고 그를 오른손으로 높이사 임금과 구주로 삼으셨느니라
32 우리는 이 일에 증인이요 하나님이 자기에게 순종하는 사람들에게 주신 성령도 그러하니라 하더라
33 그들이 듣고 크게 노하여 사도들을 없이하고자 할새
34 바리새인 가말리엘은 율법교사로 모든 백성에게 존경을 받는 자라 공회 중에 일어나 명하여 사도들을 잠깐 밖에 나가게 하고
35 말하되 이스라엘 사람들아 너희가 이 사람들에게 대하여 어떻게 하려는지 조심하라
36 이 전에 드다가 일어나 스스로 선전하매 사람이 약 사백 명이나 따르더니 그가 죽임을 당하매 따르던 모든 사람들이 흩어져 없어졌고
37 그 후 호적할 때에 갈릴리의 유다가 일어나 백성을 꾀어 따르게 하다가 그도 망한즉 따르던 모든 사람들이 흩어졌느니라
38 이제 내가 너희에게 말하노니 이 사람들을 상관하지 말고 버려 두라 이 사상과 이 소행이 사람으로부터 났으면 무너질 것이요
39 만일 하나님께로부터 났으면 너희가 그들을 무너뜨릴 수 없겠고 도리어 하나님을 대적하는 자가 될까 하노라 하니
40 그들이 옳게 여겨 사도들을 불러들여 채찍질하며 예수의 이름으로 말하는 것을 금하고 놓으니
41 사도들은 그 이름을 위하여 능욕 받는 일에 합당한 자로 여기심을 기뻐하면서 공회 앞을 떠나니라
42 그들이 날마다 성전에 있든지 집에 있든지 예수는 그리스도라고 가르치기와 전도하기를 그치지 아니하니라
Acts of the Apostles 5: 27-42
27 Having brought the apostles, they made them appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest.
28 "We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name," he said. "Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man's blood."
29 Peter and the other apostles replied: 'We must obey God rather than men!
30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead-whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree.
31 God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.
32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.'
33 When they heard this, they were furious and wanted to put them to death.
34 But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while.
35 Then he addressed them: 'Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men.
36 Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing.
37 After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered.
38 Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.
39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.'
40 His speech persuaded them. They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41 The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.
42 Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.

대제사장은 사도들에게 두가지 죄를 지었다고 말합니다. 첫째는 예수의 이름으로 가르치지 말라는 그들의 말을 듣지 않았다는 것, 둘째는 사도들이 제사장과 율법학자들에게 예수의 죽음을 책임지게 하려한다는 것입니다.
그들은 자신들이 행한 예수님의 십자가형에 대해서 복수와 형벌받지 않을까 두려움이 있었습니다. 그 죄를 감추고자, 대제사장은 사도들을 폭동죄로 몰아가서 그들을 사형 시키려 합니다. 대제사장에게 복종하지 않는 것은 당시 사형에 해당하는 죄일 정도로, 그들은 권력을 남용했습니다. 대제사장은 공개적으로 사단의 지지자 역할을 하고 있습니다.
29 베드로와 사도들이 대답하여 이르되 사람보다 하나님께 순종하는 것이 마땅하니라
29 Peter and the other apostles replied: 'We must obey God rather than men!
인간은 하나님께 순종해야 됩니다. 하나님께 순종하기위해서, 하나님의 대행인 대제사장이나 성직자들에게도 순종하게 됩니다. 부모나 직장의 고용자에게도 마찬가지입니다. 그런데 이 통치자들이 우리를 하나님과 멀어지도록 만든다면, 그들이 하는 행동은 하나님의 영광을 가리는 일이 됩니다. 그들이 하나님의 영광을 뺏어 최고의 영화를 누리더라도 그들은 여전히 시한부 목숨을 지닌 인간에 지나지 않습니다.
우리에게 하나님의 말씀에 위반되는 행동을 하도록 유도하는 통치자가 있다면, 베드로와 사도들이 한 이 말을 기억하고, 그들에게 이 말을 들려 주어야 됩니다. 우리도 사도들 처럼 행동해야 됩니다.
30 너희가 나무에 달아 죽인 예수를 우리 조상의 하나님이 살리시고
30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead-whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree.
사도들은 하나님의 명령을 지키기 위해 예수그리스도에 대해 언급하며 그들의 명령을 거부 했습니다. 그들이 죽인 예수그리스도를 다시 살리신 이는, 그들의 조상이 믿던 하나님 이십니다.
31 이스라엘에게 회개함과 죄 사함을 주시려고 그를 오른손으로 높이사 임금과 구주로 삼으셨느니라
31 God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.
32 우리는 이 일에 증인이요 하나님이 자기에게 순종하는 사람들에게 주신 성령도 그러하니라 하더라
32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.'
사도들은 예수 그리스도의 부활에 대한 증인으로 부름받았습니다. 그리스도를 믿는 이들은 풍성한 은혜를 받게 됩니다. 하나님께서 자신의 교회을 위하여 방언, 예언, 통변, 병고침의 은사를 주셨습니다, 하나님께 순종하는 이에게 주시는 성령의 은혜는 우리를 더욱 풍성하게 합니다. ‘무릇 있는자는 받아 넉넉하게 된다 (마 13:12) 는 말씀처럼 될 것입니다.

33 그들이 듣고 크게 노하여 사도들을 없이하고자 할새
33 When they heard this, they were furious and wanted to put them to death.
하나님의 일을 말하는 사도들에게 크게 노하는 대제사장 무리들은 이미 하나님의 말씀을 듣지 않는 자들 입니다.
34 바리새인 가말리엘은 율법교사로 모든 백성에게 존경을 받는 자라 공회 중에 일어나 명하여 사도들을 잠깐 밖에 나가게 하고
34 But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while.
가말리엘이 복음의 가르침을 믿거나 복음을 지키는 사도들을 변호하고자 이 말을 한 것으로 보이지 않습니다. 다만 그는 백성들에게 존중 받는 온건한 인품의 소유자 였기에 과도하게 분노하는 다른 사람들의 분노를 제어하기위해 말했을 가능성이 높습니다.
35 말하되 이스라엘 사람들아 너희가 이 사람들에게 대하여 어떻게 하려는지 조심하라
35 Then he addressed them: 'Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men.
36 이 전에 드다가 일어나 스스로 선전하매 사람이 약 사백 명이나 따르더니 그가 죽임을 당하매 따르던 모든 사람들이 흩어져 없어졌고

38 Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.
39 만일 하나님께로부터 났으면 너희가 그들을 무너뜨릴 수 없겠고 도리어 하나님을 대적하는 자가 될까 하노라 하니
39 But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.'
가말리엘은 대제사장과 율법학자나 장로들이 하나님을 대항하여 법을 수행하지 않도록 경고합니다. 지금 일어난 사건의 본질이 아직 불확실하므로, 그것이 선한지 악한지 확실해 질때까지 좀더 기다리며 지켜보아야 된다고 조언합니다.
가마리엘은 사도들을 협잡꾼이 나 약탈자들과 비교하여 말합니다. 또한 이 사건이 만약 하나님으로부터 나온 것인지 더 조사가 필요하다고 말하지 않고 아무것도 하지 말고 기다리자는 주장을 합니다.
40 그들이 옳게 여겨 사도들을 불러들여 채찍질하며 예수의 이름으로 말하는 것을 금하고 놓으니
40 His speech persuaded them. They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41 사도들은 그 이름을 위하여 능욕 받는 일에 합당한 자로 여기심을 기뻐하면서 공회 앞을 떠나니라
